Dear friends,
We had no idea how tremendous would be the response to our film UNREPENTANT, which is the first documentary on the real story of Genocide in Canadian "Indian residential schools". Besides winning an award at the New York Independent Film Festival last November, UNREPENTANT has been ordered by people, governments and groups from eleven different countries, and is now entered in over a dozen international film festivals. With this new exposure, the lid is finally coming off the crimes inflicted on indigenous peoples on this continent.
Frankly, we have not been able to keep up with the demand, or the opportunities to show the film in communities around the world. But later this year it is imperative that Kevin Annett get to Europe and other locations to show the film and speak to several important indigenous and human rights organizations, who have pledged their support for an international inquiry into Genocide in Canada. What a breakthrough!
In addition, Kevin Annett is commencing a cross-Canada speaking tour in the first week in March to bring UNREPENTANT to cities in Manitoba, southern Ontario and Quebec.
To sustain this effort, we need to raise about $5000 in travel funds, and soon. Kevin has been doing this work for over a decade on a completely unpaid basis, relying on aboriginal people themselves and their supporters.
We are making this appeal to you to contribute to this fund to allow us to bring the film to the world and give accompanying lectures and hold circles among communities that will help us in our efforts to bring Canada and its churches to justice for the crimes they are inflicting on aboriginal people.
