Remember the Murdered Children -
Stop the Whitewash of Genocide in Canada!
Rally outside the fraudulent "Truth and Reconciliation" event
Tuesday, June 15, 2010
10:00 am
Hotel Inn at The Forks, downtown Winnipeg
Residential school survivors and their supporters will gather at the start of the government and church-sponsored "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" (TRC) event in Winnipeg to launch a real investigation into the genocide in Indian residential schools - and urge survivors to boycott the TRC.
"What kind of inquiry doesn't allow people to name names, or go after those responsible? This TRC fiasco is all one more big cover up by the government and it dishonors every survivor" stated Peter Yellow Quill, traditional Chief of Long Plains First Nation and a school survivor, who will speak at the rally.
Sponsored by The Friends and Relatives of the Disappeared (FRD), which helped force an "apology" for residential schools from the Canadian government in 2008, the June 15 rally will be followed by FRD-led public forums that will independently document crimes in Indian residential schools.
"There won't be any censorship at our forums" said FRD founder Kevin Annett today.
"We will document and publish the names of the criminals, who they harmed and killed, and where their victims are buried. There can be no justice or healing without the full truth being made known, and the guilty being prosecuted."
Survivors and others are encouraged to bring drums, prayers, music, smudging and their own stories to the June 15 rally, which will commence with a press conference.
The FRD's first open forum in Winnipeg will be held on Monday, June 28. Details are forthcoming.
