Whistle Blowing Minister to Commence Continental Speaking Tour to "Disestablish Genocide"

Kevin Annett, the pastor turned activist who forced the government of Canada to acknowledge its genocide of native people last year, is taking his truth campaign on the road for the next several months.

The purpose of the tour is to help launch a political movement to "disestablish the institutions responsible for Genocide", as part of an independent inquiry into Genocide in Canada launched last year.

From February 12 until May 30, Annett plans to tour the continent on a lecture and organizing trip that will include meetings with government and human rights officials, indigenous elders, the media, and residential school survivors.

His itinerary includes the following destinations:

February 12-13: Castlegar and Nelson, B.C.

February 18: Ottawa, Ontario

February 19-20: Montreal and Kahnawake

February 21-22: Hamilton, Niagara Falls and Brantford

February 23: London, Ontario

February 24-25: Toronto and Kitchener

February 26: Northern Ontario

February 27: Timmins

February 28 - March 1: Thunder Bay and Winnipeg

March 3-5: Yellowknife and the Yukon

March 15-20: New York City

March 21-28: Eastern USA

March 29: San Diego, CA

March 30-31: Los Angeles and Santa Barbara

April 1-2: San Francisco

April 3-5: Arcata and northern California

April 15: Fifth Aboriginal Holocaust Memorial Day celebrations nationwide

April 20-25: Edmonton and northern Alberta

April 25-30: Southern Alberta and Saskatchewan

May 15-30: Northern and Interior of British Columbia

Annett, an award-winning author and film maker, has led the movement to bring the churches and government of Canada to justice for their killing of tens of thousands of aboriginal children in their "Indian residential schools".

Last June 11, Annett and his efforts were vindicated when the Harper government was forced to "apologize" in Parliament for the death and disappearance of children in the residential schools.

Yet now, in the wake of the government's plan to resuscitate the discredited "Truth and Reconciliation Commission" (TRC) and absolve the churches for any responsibility for the death of children under their care, Annett is raising the stakes on these genocidal institutions.

Annett is part of a new political initiative known as the Republican Movement of Kanata, established to sever ties with the British Crown and legally disestablish the Roman Catholic, Anglican and United Church of Canada.

“To finally heal the scars of genocide, we need to end what is causing it, starting with the oligarchic institutions responsible” said Annett in a media statement.

“As long as those unelected bodies - the Crown and its churches - remain the legal power in Canada, there can be no justice for any of their victims - and no democracy for anyone.”

Annett’s call was quickly endorsed by indigenous elders and activists across Canada when it was made on January 1.

In the wake of Annett’s public vindication by the June 11 apology, his campaign is gaining new momentum, and new allies. Hundreds of people across Canada have recently taken a public “Oath of Allegiance” to a new Republic of Kanata, and plan to establish local branches of a Republican Party of Kanata.

Annett’s speaking tour is geared to win international support for the new movement and force a final reckoning with the churches and government of Canada for their proven crimes against humanity. The tour will include the holding of public rallies and protests, including at the United Nations and mass grave sites near former residential schools.

Later in the spring, Annett will travel to Europe to help convene a public War Crimes Tribunal against the British Crown and the Vatican for their responsibility for the deaths of more than 50,000 children in Indian Residential Schools in Canada.

Annett’s work has earned him nominations for the Order of Canada and the Nobel Peace Prize from such figures as Dr. Noam Chomsky, Irish peace activist and Nobel laureate Mairead Corrigan-Maguire, and Amnesty International co-founder Dr. Jennifer Wade.
